Anton Puzzle Tussle
Role: Level/ Game Designer
Team of 3
Engine: Unreal 4

Anton Puzzle Tussle (APT) was a game made in Unreal with two other people as part of a game jam hosted by the creators of Anton Ball Deluxe.

Using their IP as a basis, we created a 3D version with gameplay elements heavily inspired by Wario World. As the sole Level Designer, I created the levels in engine and scripted them using Unreal 4’s blueprint scripting tool, creating level obstacles and editing the existing character actor blueprints to better suit the level’s needs and vision.

Levels were created first in Photoshop and compiled in a Level Design Document for early communications between the team. Taking Wario World’s small, puzzle-platform driven levels to mind, the levels of APT were kept short and relatively simple. However, a further layer in a level’s difficulty was added with the addition of optional Grand Coins that the player could collect via the requirement of extra steps and jumps in their level solving order of operation.
